A while ago, a man almost broke the internet after he was reportedly paid TW$80,000 (approx. RM10,700) per month for being a housekeeper. We know it’s hard to believe, but it’s true.

According to NOODOU, this Taiwanese guy named Lee, was once an employee who worked at a restaurant with the salary of TW$30,000 (approx. RM4,000) per month. He then decided to take a leap of faith and switched to become a full-time housekeeper. That has proven to be the best decision ever in his life.

“Many families in Taiwan have dual incomes. Since both the husband and wife need to head out to work, they have no time to take care of their home. This is where housekeepers like us come in to help sort things out,” Lee said.

His main job scope includes cleaning the house, getting rid of any pest, and helping the family to run some errands. Thanks to his luck, he managed to get in touch with an atas family who promised him a lucrative income.

Aside from doing the normal chores, he was specifically required to brush and clean up the client’s tortoise.

This task requires skills and has to be done with great care. First, Lee would gently brush the tortoise’s shell and repeat the same thing on it’s belly. He’ll also try to reach into the shell to remove any possible dirt.

For all of that, he gets paid TW$80,000 (approx. RM10,000).

He works ten hours a day, which is broadly similar to most of us – only thing is, he gets paid double or triple of our salary! I must be in the wrong industry! Lee is required to go to the tortoise owner’s house twice a month.

Needless to say, netizens were mind-blown when they read this news.

“Give me RM10,000 and I will not only brush the tortoise’s belly, I’d rub your dog’s belly and even your belly! ” an emotional netizen said.

Wahh so desperate huh…

After writing this article, I think being a housekeeper is the true calling of my life. Anyone looking for someone to brush their tortoises? 😛
