People have different methods for moving on from a broken relationship, but this man took it to the next level by training himself into a competitive bodybuilder. This sounds like real life One Punch Man (except One Punch Man trained himself for fun).
A Japanese middle-aged man on Twitter, who goes by the username Shirapyong (@lonestarsde66), shares his transformation story to the Twitterverse. A few years ago, he hit the lowest point in his life when his wife left him for being “bald, dumpy, and middle-aged”.

According to Next Shark, Shirapyong used to hit the gym regularly back in college, but he stopped exercising after he graduated.
After the breakup, he decided to train himself by going back to the gym, but he gave himself excuses like “Eh, I’ll just go tomorrow”. Seems like he’s just a normal person like the rest of us!
He had the idea of joining a bodybuilding contest to force him to stop procrastinating and finally hit the gym.
It seemed like he overcame his mid-life crisis when he became a frequent bodybuilding competitor. Although he hasn’t won first place in any of the competitions yet, he’s often placed in the top 10s.
According to Sora News 24, he won the 4th place in the Tokyo Open Bodybuilding Tournament’s over-40-years-old division recently in May!

With the confidence boost from his lifestyle change, Shirapyong started venturing into the cosplay and entertainment industry!
Recently, he facilitated a “muscle taxi” booth at the Niconico Chokaigi pop culture celebration.

The intention of Shirapyong sharing his inspiring story was not to show off his hard work, but to inspire others to work hard to achieve similar results like his.
He said,

Besides achieving impressive results on bodybuilding, he’s also living his best life with his new-found love â a woman he met at a bodybuilding event!
