However, this man from Iran was caught smoking on an AirAsia flight last August 23. According to NST, the incident happened about 7.55am, when the man who was identified as 35-year-old Ali Firooz decided to smoke in the toilet on the plane. He departed from Tehran on a transit flight to Kuala Lumpur while flying to Netherlands to look for job.

The man was charged in Sepang Magistrate’s Court and pleaded guilty after the charge was read to him. The suspect looked calm but exhausted, as Magistrate Norul Fitri Hamdan sentenced him to two days in jail and a fine of RM2,500 after his lawyer said that he was remorseful for his actions.
