Fiji and Philippines

Starting with the third largest banknote, Fiji, a country in the South Pacific, issued a $2,000 note in the 2000s to celebrate the new millennium.

The front of the banknote features an image of a president, while the back showcases native Fijian flora and fauna.

Next, the second largest banknote comes from the Philippines, a 100,000 peso note issued in 1998 to celebrate the country’s independence after more than 300 years of Spanish rule.

The back of this banknote creatively displays historic scenes and images of national leaders.

The world’s largest banknote

Last but not least, Malaysia’s Ringgit earned the title of the largest banknote in the world with its impressive RM600 note measuring 22cm in height and 37cm in width!

The RM600 note was issued in 2017 to mark Malaysia’s 60th anniversary of independence. The front of the note showcases all 15 kings of Malaysia, while the back features the signing of the Federation of Malaya’s independence agreement.

The RM600 note was sold at RM1,700 a piece

To mark the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Federation of Malaya’s independence agreement, Bank Negara released special commemorative banknotes celebrating the historic event from 1957.

The RM600 banknotes pay tribute to the Council (now known as the Conference) of Rulers for their role in securing the nation’s independence on August 31, 1957.

The large-sized banknote has a face value of RM600 and was sold at RM1,700 a piece. Only 6,000 pieces were printed.
