On 9th March, Malaysians will have the fortune to catch a partial solar eclipse.

The rather rare occasion happens when the moon passes between Earth and right infront of the Sun, forming a dark circle of shadow from the Sun.

The amazing phenomenon will likely occur starting 7.30am to 9.30am with its peak being around 8.30am. Malaysians are lucky as we will be able to see more than 50% of the Sun being covered.

For you guys who are interested to check it out, DO NOT stare into the Sun directly for very obvious reasons.

Even some sunglasses are discouraged as it may still harm your eyes.

You could try taking a picture using your phone and camera to view it or another way of viewing the spectacular phenomenon is by using photograph negatives, place them together and you’ll have them dark enough to safely view the solar eclipse.

People in Sumatera, Borneo, Sulawesi and “a large empty part of the Pacific ocean” are able to view a total eclipse as they are in-line with the moon’s path.

Save your dates and don’t forget to check it out because the next solar eclipse for Malaysians won’t happen till December 2019!
