Facebook user Clare was rushing to work. She called her ride using UBER services but what happened right after she left her condo shocked her.
She writes in her post:
“Today, I desperately needed to get to work. Of course I Uber. My past experience with Uber has taught me to sit in front, act like you know the driver. So I got in the car and greeted my driver Matthew. What happened next caught me off guard.
Taxi drivers surrounded the car immediately, one of them banging the window of the car asking him to wind down the window and asked if he was an Uber driver. I said “He is my friend Matthew!” Bloody rude taxi driver turns around and yells.. “Eh bloody bitch you better not get involved and lie to us a!” On top of that, they punctured my Uber drivers tires!!

Dear Malaysian Taxi Drivers, the reason why we choose Uber is because you guys show this “gentlemen” side of you. I’m glad your UGLY side is coming out.
The fact that this happened right outside my condo doors made me realize my condo is not safe, neither is the mall below. And the fact that taxi drivers are turning out to be gangsters and all.. Maybe the taxi companies should be shut down instead of Uber.
I need to hire a personal bodyguard and driver now.
The dispute between UBER and local taxis has been going on for awhile. Taxi companies has been requesting authorities to take action against UBER services as UBER does not have to appropriate license and is threatening their livelihood.
Malaysians who read the post were outraged at how these taxi drivers acted. Most of them pinpointed the taxi drivers’ samseng attitude that would just drive more customers away. Pun unintended.
One even commented, “this is why I don’t use taxis anymore”.
So far, it’s not clear whether authorities have been contacted about the incident.
