Garnering more than 7.6m views, sera_i_am took to Instagram not long ago showcasing her pipes as she covers “Tones” and “Dance Monkey”.
Doing it from the comforts of her own car, without any tuning or editing (one that we can witness in the video), sera_i_am displayed flawless singing of her cover, to the delight of many which include the original singers themselves.
Now for those who are not familiar with the song ‘Dance Monkey’, it is currently U.K.’s longest-running chart-topper, matching other hits such as Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, and Justin Bieber’s “Despacito” just to name a few in this century.
But in this article, it is not sera_i_am that we will be focusing on, but instead another cover done by our own hometown singer who did it in her own car as well.
Here is the video of a certain Zizi Kirana belting out “Dance Monkey” while chillin’ in her car.

Of course, Zizi’s trajectory in covering hit songs may not hit the heights of sera_i_am with like thousands of followers every time she posts something, but nevertheless Zizi is no pushover either.
She too has a foothold in the local music industry with hit tunes like nakketaknak (the lepak Mamak song?) and Siapa yang bap bap.

Sure, her songs may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but from what we see can above she definitely has the tools to make it big.
As music fans, we do hope that Zizi Kirana will make it to the big time soon. Who knows, we may have another Yuna in the making, right?
