Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) today announced that it has gotten regulatory approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) to enable Gate-to-Gate connectivity for passengers on its airlines.
This makes MAG’s airlines, comprising Malaysia Airlines, FireFly and MASwings to be the first airlines in our country to provide Gate-to-Gate connectivity for travellers departing from Malaysia.
In a press release, it is also revealed that beginning 1 July 2023, passengers of the 3 airlines can enjoy the convenience of staying connected to their personal/portable electronic devices (PEDs) such as mobile phones, tablets and other small hand-held devices throughout their journey.
Passengers are still required to turn on ‘flight mode’ on their PEDs, but they will no longer be required to turn off the devices during takeoffs and landings, as was previously required due to regulatory and aircraft requirements.
Furthermore, Malaysia Airlines also announced that it will be offering free WiFi for all Business Suite and Business Class passengers, as well as Enrich Platinum members, regardless of their class of travel to be enjoyed from 1 July 2023 until 31 December 2023.
The offer will be available on a total of 20 aircraft that are equipped with Wi-Fi, with a data cap of 100 MB per sector and a bandwidth of up to 512 kbps.
There will also be a pay-per-use Wi-Fi offering (MHconnect) and wireless in-flight entertainment (MHstudio) which can be used uninterrupted on their PEDs throughout their journey.
