1Malaysia is all about bringing Malaysians together, no matter what the race or background is. It’s about celebrating our differences and finding unity in diversity. And this story proves that harmony still exists among Malaysians.

In a recent Facebook post, user Norul Ridzuan Zakaria Din shared a story about an encounter he had with 2 strangers of different races when he got stranded near Simpang Empat Semanggol.

In the post, he revealed that he had taken his motorbike out for a ride shortly after purchasing it. He went on to share how he had travel from his house at Changkat Jering and to Ban Pecah, Perak.

He mentioned that his petrol meter wasn’t accurate, but he wasn’t too concerned about running out of fuel because he had filled up his petrol tank just a few days earlier.

As he was heading back, he noticed that roughly 7km before reaching Simpang Empat Semanggol, his motorbike began jerking, indicating that it was running low on fuel. Just a minute later, the engine suddenly turned off.

“I was shocked to find the tank empty when I checked. At the time of the incident it was sometime around 11:30 in the morning, so it wasn’t too hot because it had rain earlier” he added.

Ridzuan continued to share that he had no choice but to push his motorbike. He estimated that he would have to walk roughly 6km to reach the nearest petrol station.

“At least four motorcycle riders passed by, but none of them stopped to help me. However, I tried to remain positive and assumed that they were rushing back home.”

As he was pushing his bike, he noticed a Chinese woman riding a motorcycle with a young boy, approaching from the opposite direction. He admitted he didn’t expect the lady to offer help.

To his surprise, he noticed the lady making a U-turn and heading straight toward him. She then instructed him to wait while she offered to fetch petrol for him.

Despite Ridzuan initially declining her offer, she insisted on helping. He was struck by her eagerness to assist him, managing only to express his gratitude before she hurried off.

He then shared how, just two minutes later, a young Indian man approached him and offered his assistance as well. The man then proceeded to escort Ridzuan without any hesitation.

When the woman arrived, Ridzuan thanked the young man before the young man continued with his journey. Ridzuan then quickly filled up his tank.

As soon as he finished filling up his tank with petrol, he thanked the woman for her kindness. To show his thanks, he then gave her RM5 for helping him.

“I gave the lady RM5. Even though I could have given her RM50, her help is worth more than any amount of money.”

He then concluded the post by saying,

“Amidst all the division among Malaysians over race, culture, and beliefs, there’s still unity in Malaysia, as shown by the Chinese lady and the young Indian man who helped me. My experience showed me the true harmony among Malaysians.”
