The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has arrested a 36-year-old housewife in Melaka for allegedly beating and splashing hot water on her 10-year-old daughter on Thursday (20 March).

According to BERNAMA, the woman committed the act after becoming enraged about the child playing with her makeup.

According to BERNAMA sources, the incident came to light after the victim’s teacher noticed she was wearing regular clothes instead of her sports attire at school.

The victim then told her teacher that she was feeling unwell and upon inspection, bruises were found on the girl’s hands.

The teacher then brought her to the school’s staff room where the victim revealed that her mother had scolded her, beat her with an object and poured several cups of hot water on her after discovering she played with her mother’s makeup without permission.

The victim, who is a middle child of three siblings, also told the teacher that during the incident, her two siblings were asleep and that afterwards, she told her father about what had transpired.

After hearing all this and failing to contact her father, the teacher brought the victim to the Melaka Hospital for treatment.

The mother was arrested by PDRM on Friday

The case was confirmed by Melaka Police Chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar, who revealed that it’s currently being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

The mother was arrested yesterday (21 March) and a remand application was submitted to the Ayer Keroh Magistrate’s Court earlier today.
