So far, we’ve only heard of foreign tourists praising Malaysian food and missing (and even trying to recreate) our local cuisine when they head back to their home countries.

But, it’s only fair to have some foreigners not like our food based on their own acquired tastes.

The Mandarinjer Twitter page recently shared a video by a tourist couple from China, where they told their fellow Chinese people to bring instant noodles from their country when visiting Malaysia as to them, our food (including our local instant noodles) are not nice.

Mandarinjer wrote, “A husband and wife duo from China said that Malaysian food is not tasty. They said they are willing to bring instant noodles from their home country.”

In the video, the couple could be seen telling their fellow Chinese tourists to prepare instant noodles from China upon coming to Malaysia because our food just isn’t up to their taste.

“These noodles taste very bland,” the man said while showcasing a bowl of what looks like kuey teow soup.

“I feel like everyone needs to remember to bring instant noodles (from home), the dishes that I’m eating here really isn’t up to my taste. I’ve been here for a few days and I’m getting thin,” the woman said as the man added, “If you want to become skinny, come to Malaysia“.

A Malaysian defends our food.

A local man responded to the video by telling the couple that they should have done their research of where to get nice local cuisine before coming to Malaysia.

He also told them that he had visited China in the past and found their food to be similarly unappealing to him, but he did his research and found some places with good food.
