The Member of Parliament (MP) for Julau, Datuk Larry Sng recently took to his official Facebook account to reveal a distressing incident he and his entourage faced while visiting the Chinese community in his constituency celebrating the Chinese New Year.
In a post yesterday (15 February), Sng shared how he came across some local gangsters who he described as “obviously looking to cause trouble”.

Dissatisfied with RM5 Ang Pow
In another post today, Sng, who is also the President of Parti Bangsa Malaysia, shared more details about the incident and who the perpetrators were.
According to the Julau MP, the incident happened on 11 February at an open house he was attending, in which the gangsters were also present. They then asked Sng for red money packets or Ang Pows at 12.30pm, but the Julau MP told them that he only had money packets filled with RM5 each to be given to small children.
However, since they insisted on getting the Ang Pow, Sng gave the RM5 money packets to them for good luck. After 20 minutes, the head of the gang returned an Ang Pow and stuffed RM20 in it.
Later at around 5pm, while Sng was leaving the Pakan district officer’s house, 4 gangsters, including the head, surrounded the Julau MP and said that the Ang Pow amount was too small and expressed their displeasure.
They then asked Sng for RM500, which he agreed to and transferred the amount to the bank account of someone they knew.
However, as the Julau MP entered his car, the gangsters refused to disperse and started arguing with Sng’s supporters, to the point of pushing one of them, Tuai Rumah Empi, to the ground.
Later on, Sng found out that the head of the gang had informed one of his entourage that they had prepared weapons in their car and were planning to attack him.
Hence, the Julau MP went straight to the police station to lodge a report for the safety of himself and those around him.
The gangsters allegedly held a grudge against him
In the same post, Sng claimed that the head of the gang had a grudge against him for things that happened in the past.
The Julau MP alleged that the head of the gang had supported another candidate during the 15th General Election (GE15) and lost big money on gambling when he bet on Sng to lose.
Furthermore, on 13 May last year, the same gangster had allegedly used his fist to hit the front bonnet of Sng’s car at an evening function organised by a youth club. 2 days later, the car was stolen.
4 men have since been arrested over the incident
Since then, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has arrested 4 men suspected of threatening Sng. According to NST, Julau District Police Chief Superintendant Andam Sulin in a statement confirmed that they were arrested on Monday evening, a day after the Julau MP lodged a police report.
Currently, investigations are still ongoing, with the case being probed under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
