From 1 week to 5 days, and soon, Covid-19 patients WON’T NEED to undergo house quarantine anymore, effective July 15, 2024.

Those with COVID-19 viruses will be treated like other patients with respiratory diseases. The patients, however, are only advised to wear a face mask, minimise interaction with others, and avoid crowded places.

But why the sudden leniency?

In a statement by the Ministry of Health (MoH), the no-quarantine rule came after the downtrend of death caused by the virus.

“The data also shows no new variants of the COVID-19.”

However, if your situation worsens over time, you can always get treatment at the nearest health facility. MC and references to hospitals will be given by the medical officers, if necessary.

MoH also stated that as of now, the Covid-19 variants that are currently spreading in Malaysia are the Omicron variant with its sub-variants known as,

  • Variant of Concern
  • Variant of Interest
  • Variant Under Monitoring

“As we enter the phase where we’re living with the COVID-19 virus, MoH will still monitor the situation domestically and globally.”

What do you think of the new no-quarantine rule?
