The world is on a mission to eradicate the Covid-19 virus, which is why it is extra sad to hear that a plane carrying medical supplies and health care workers has exploded in the Philippines.
The medical evacuation plane, owned by Philippines-registered charter service, Lionair, was taking off to head to Haneda, Japan when it exploded during take-off at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), killing all eight passengers and crew members, as according to Channel News Asia.
According to the Chairman of the Philippines Red Cross, Richard Gordon, those who lost their lives included a coronavirus patient.
Our fire and medic teams were already dispatched to NAIA Terminal 2 to respond to the plane crash incident involving Lion Air Flight RPC 5880. 8 passengers consisting of a flight medic, nurse, doctor, three flight crew, one patient and its companion were on board.
