Lee Chong Wei Breaks Silence On Rumours About Him Leaving To Singapore To Become a Coach There

For the amount of time that Dato Lee Chong Wei had spent in the sports industry, it’s not surprising if people approach him and seek guidance as he has a vast amount of experience.

In fact, Chong Wei recently revealed that he has been approached by a few countries in Asia that asked him to be their coach. According to New Straits Time, Chong Wei admitted that he has been discussing and negotiating with some of the countries that approached him. However, he has yet to make a decision.

It didn’t take long for assumptions to start circulating. Rumour has it that Chong Wei has opted to go to Singapore and begin a new chapter there as a badminton coach. Since then, people started to question if Malaysia is about to bid adieu to one of the most iconic badminton players in the country.

I’m still going to lepak in Malaysia

Last night (7 April), on his Facebook account, Chong Wei has clarified the rumours once and for all. He assured the people that he is not going anywhere, at least for the time being as spending time with family is his current priority.

“I’m still in love with badminton but I have no intention of becoming a coach for now. I’m going to lepak in Malaysia, visit the Ramadhan Bazaars and wait for invitations to Raya open house.”
