Not everyone is happy with Teresa Kok’s remark on the Halal certificate. In the meantime, many are also not fond of Dr Akmal’s fiery response, in which she told the government to stick a non-Halal sticker on Teresa’s forehead.
On his Facebook post, The Vice Chairman of DAP, Sheikh Omar Ali, recently shared his thoughts on the UMNO Youth Chief’s response toward Teresa and called it “a lack of manners.”
“Maybe Akmal wanted to show his masculinity but unfortunately, it only showed the unwise attitude of a Muslim.”
Sheikh was referring to Akmal’s remark that he addressed Teresa as old Nyonya and the non-Halal sticker on her forehead. With the ongoing by-elections, Sheikh fears that Akmal’s attitude will affect the voters, which was proven by the time spent with them.
The voters are mostly not happy with the UMNO Youth Chief’s attitude.
“The response I got was concerning. Many non-Malay voters are clearly not happy with Akmal. Shockingly, Malay voters feel the same too and some even consider his mannerism a gangster.”
Sheikh added that based on the data from the GE15, the percentage of supporters of DUN Mahkota for UMNO was around 30%, and Pakatan Harapan had 40%.
“UMNO has to manage Akmal”
In his post, Sheikh suggested that UMNO take immediate action regarding Dr Akmal. He said issues that surface should be settled wisely and maturely, not by publicly uttering slurs.
“My sincere advice is that UMNO needs to manage Akmal to ensure the unity government’s candidate wins the Mahkota polls.”
Teresa Kok recently demanded RM25 million from Dr Akmal via a LOD for twisting her remarks, to which the UMNO Youth Chief said, “see you in court.”
Do you think the legal works will proceed? What do you think of Sheik’s take on this matter?
