This is making us wince in pain! Agh!

Recently, news of a part time hostess from Singapore becoming blind in one eye from a fight became widely circulated after the case was heard in court on Wednesday (4th October).

The fight between 30-year-old  Nur Lena Rahmat and 28-year-old  Siti Zahara Afifi Abdul Karim started out as an argument at 3.20am on 8th October 2015 at Club One KTV, where they both worked. The argument then escalated to a physical fight, during which the two fell to the ground, according to the Straits Times.

During the fight, two people tried to break them apart but failed. That was when Siti Zahara, who was wearing 14.5cm stiletto heels, began to kick Nur Lena in the face.

Nur Lena reportedly felt the sharp heel hit her eyelid twice, which caused her left eyeball to pop out! Omg!

As soon as that happened, the victim began to scream “I cannot see, I cannot see”, bringing the fight to a halt. She was then rushed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where she had her left eyeball removed and got an orbital implant. She was discharged 8 days later on 16th October 2015.

The fight caused Nur Lena to sustain life-altering injuries. She suffered left-eye permanent blindness and right-eye temporal hemianopia, meaning that she can only see the nasal part of her visual field.

Now, Siti Zahara has been convicted in court for causing grievous hurt.

It was learned in court that the fight broke out over a set of braces for Siti Zahara’s younger sister. She had reportedly been in a relationship with Nur Lena’s friend and after the relationship ended, the friend wanted to continue paying for her younger sister’s braces.

However, Nur Lena reportedly urged her friend to stop paying for the braces, which led to the early morning argument that ended up blinding her.

Because of this assault, Siti Zahara could face up to 4 years in jail and a SGD$10,000 fine (approx RM31,000).

We can’t imagine what this ordeal must be like for the victim, but we hope that the authorities take appropriate action to resolve this issue!
