The Kelantan Ministry of Domestic Trade and Living Cost (KPDN) has detected multiple cases involving businesses abusing ‘Rahmah’ labels for the purposes of attracting customers, only to offer regular sales prices without the actual ‘Rahmah’ discounts.
According to a report by Sinar Harian, KPDN Kelantan Director, Azman Ismail, shared that the abuse of the ‘Rahmah’ label involves cooperatives, grocery stores and mini markets, to boost sales.

Businesses in Kelantan were caught misusing the ‘Rahmah’ label to attract customers
KPDN Kelantan managed to discover this matter after receiving complaints from the public.
“When we conducted reviews, it was found that the traders were not registered under the Rahmah Sales Program. They use the word ‘Rahmah’ to attract customers while the prices are the normal prices instead of the 30% deduction given by the government,” he said.
KDPN Kelantan’s review also found that some of the businesses also sold items that are not included in the list of the 25 basic items under Rahmah’s initiatives, such as milk powder.
When approached, the businesses took down all ‘Rahmah’ mentions
Upon KPDN’s reprimand, the vendors involved removed all sales materials mentioning the word ‘Rahmah’.
“So far, we have advised in advance, and if they are still disobedient, decisive action will be taken.”
Azman Ismail added that his department will continue to monitor and patrol the field to ensure that no one takes advantage of government initiatives.
