A Malaysian live host for a local boutique in Kuala Lumpur found herself under fire for her inappropriate response to a potential customer during a livestream.

In a viral screen recording of the live stream, a viewer in the comments section asked about the outfit size for someone who weighs 90kg. In response, the live video host laughed after reading the question. A Threads user initially shared the matter on her account before it circulated, and expressed her disappointment at the live host’s reaction.

“This is rude. You can’t even host appropriately, and now you’re making fun of plus size inidividuals.”

“I’m an S size, but I feel bad for the customer who asked you a proper question, but was laughed at!”

The Threads user also urged the boutique’s management to look into the matter and take immediate action.

The live video host has been removed from her role

Yesterday (2 December), the management of the boutique in Kuala Lumpur issued a public apology via an official statement, assuring the public that action has been taken against the live video host.

In the statement, the management highlighted that the host’s behaviour is unacceptable and does not align with the organisation’s values and ethics.

“The live host has been removed from her role.”

“We’ve been conducting live sessions for years with respect and professionalism, and this incident is a learning moment for us to grow and do better.”

The management added that they respect, empower, and celebrate women of all sizes and do not tolerate belittling or disrespectful behaviours, whether intentional or not.

“We are truly sorry, and we appreciate everyone who highlighted this to us.”

“Thank you for holding us accountable.”

Following the management’s prompt response and swift action, the Threads user has also archived her post of the livestream screen recording.
