The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, is requesting for the Federal Government will allocate funds to repair the badly damaged  roads on the Pasir Gudang Expressway.

According to a report by Berita Harian, His Highness said that Jalan Johor Bahru-Mersing also has the same issue and is dangerous for road users.

“I hope that the federal road repair allocation is channeled to repair the Pasir Gudang Expressway and Johor Bahru-Mersing road, which are potholed and extremely dangerous for road users. Even the rim of my car is bent,” His Highness shared.

In June of last year (2022), Sultan Ibrahim was reported to have asked the Federal Government to immediately fulfill its promise to upgrade the North-South Expressway (PLUS) to 6 lanes and the Senai-Desaru Expressway (SDE) to 4 lanes.

“Also, look at the state of damaged and potholed Federal roads, for example the Johor Bahru-Mersing road which endangers road users. I feel as if Johor is being decentralised, even though Johor is one of the main contributors to the national economy,” His Majesty added.

Despite this, Sultan Ibrahim also expressed his gratitude to the Federal Government for approving the allocation in Budget 2023 to upgrade the North-South Expressway from Yong Peng-Senai to 6 lanes.
