Self-identity is one of the elements that determine how a person sees himself, or herself. While some may struggle with an identity crisis, others know very well about themselves and we are no one to judge.
Local internet celebrity, Bryan Wee is often known for his cross-dress and his acts have gained multiple criticisms over the years. Just recently, Bryan received comments from fellow netizens who said that he’s neither a girl nor a boy.
Is he affected by the comments?
He most probably was not, but he has a message to his haters and he posted it via a Facebook post recently.
“Save your breath. Your words will not change my beauty, and I will continue to be beautiful.”
Bryan made it clear that he does not care what others have to say about him. In response to the claims that Bryan will change his gender, he also refuted the claim in his post, where he said that he is simply staying true to himself.
In another Facebook post, the controversial internet celebrity revealed that he has always been feminine since his childhood days, and that side of him “sparked” further as he grew up. But that does not mean he is opting for a gender change.
“Being myself means expressing what I truly feel, not by pretending or be someone what the world wants to see.”
As a kid, Bryan was always teased and laughed at for his feminine side, and he tried to change, but not for long.
“I changed, but I wasn’t myself and I wasn’t happy. I realised I didn’t need to live like this, without happiness.”
He also reminded people NOT to project their beliefs onto others, as well as not to change themselves just to blend in with the world. Bryan believes that to handle someone who doesn’t like you, is by just simply ignoring that person.
“The earth will not stop spinning when someone dislikes you. The world is huge, and someday, someone who truly appreciates you will come.”
Everyone deserves to live the life they want to live and others should support that by leaving them be & not discriminating.
Do you agree with what Bryan had to say about accepting your own identity?
