Despite having numerous lakes, Malaysia is unfortunately home to some of the most polluted ones. While this might be surprising to some, it’s important to acknowledge these issues and reconsider our approach when it comes to keeping public spaces clean.
In a recent video shared by @foundermisi (Faiz), he and a group of locals undertook a heartfelt mission aimed at rescuing and restoring a public lake located in Puncak Alam.
“This is just our responsibility”
The video shows the lake heavily polluted with plastic waste and other rubbish, prompting a group of Malaysians to initiate a cleanup effort.
Faiz pointed out that their mission reflects a shared commitment and strong sense of responsibility to the Puncak Alam community, which is their home.
40 people participated in the cleanup!
Faiz revealed that the cleanup effort includes participation from both the Founder Cafe and HQ Misi teams, making up a total of 40 people dedicated to making a positive impact in their community.
He continued to explain that the community service activity typically takes place once a week, during which they also provide meals to all participants beforehand.
“We usually schedule our community service activities once a week. As a way of showing thanks, we make sure to provide meals for everyone before we start. We have to take responsibility for what happens on this earth.”
Netizens quickly flooded the comment section with their support!
“Puncak Alam Lake is polluted not because people throw trash directly into it, but because water from the drains flows into the lake. That’s why every time it rains, the lake ends up filled with trash.”
“It’s great to know that there are still people who love the environment.”
“You all will receive the biggest reward for your efforts.”
“Keeping the environment clean is everyone’s responsibility.”
