The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Kedah intercepted a Honda City sedan at 6:40 PM on Monday (January 20) at the North-South Expressway for a peculiar offence.

The vehicle displayed a plate number that did not adhere to specifications – “W4NI”. The driver admitted that it was a gift from her husband in her name, according to a Facebook post by JPJ Kedah.

“According to Rule 6(7) of the Motor Vehicles (Registration & Licensing) Rules 1959, if found guilty, a fine of not more than RM300 can be issued.”

JPJ Kedah also said that the act violated Regulation 6(7) of the Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 1959. The enforcement authorities therefore issued a P22 notice and inspection instruction notice under Section 61(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1987.

JPJ also reminded the public that action will be taken against anyone who violates traffic rules, regardless of their motives and reasons.

If you fancy a unique vehicle registration number, you might want to refer to the rules and regulations before spending a fortune on it.
