Do you have a dying wish? Or is death not something you think about on a daily basis?
Well, this grandma did, and it looks like she had it all figured out!
Before her death, 99-year-old Catarina Orduña Pérez dreamed of having her tomb adorned with a penis.
Known for her spunky and playful character, she told her grandson, Álvaro Mota Limón, “that it was her desire so that no one would forget her and that everything (everyone) loved about her would be remembered more easily.”
“She wanted to break the paradigm of everything Mexican, where things are sometimes hidden because of not having an open mind,” Mota Limón told VICE World News in an interview.
“She was always very avant-garde, very forward-thinking about things.”
So, in “recognition of her love and joy for life”, a 1.7 metres dick and balls statue weighing nearly 270kg was mounted on her tomb at a cemetery in Mexico.
What a legend!

Phallic monuments around the world
The cock and balls statue sitting on Grandma Catarina’s tomb is just one of many penis statues that have been erected around the world.
Here are some more interesting ones we found:
1. Mochica man with a giant penis (Peru)
This statue of an indigenous Mochica man with a giant penis is located in the Peruvian city of Moche.
The glass fibre, 3 metres tall statue was erected to honour a pre-Incan culture, the Mochica culture, known for producing sexually explicit ceramics.
“In our culture, it does not represent eroticism but faith in God. In addition, sexuality must be seen as something normal and natural,” said the mayor, Arturo Fernandez.
2. Penis makes it rain (Thailand)
In the Thai village of Yothaka, a massive dick statue apparently ended a period of drought after it was built as part of an ancient local rain-making ceremony.
A half an hour shower came just two days after the statue was erected.
It looks like that dick can really make it rain!
Chamnan Kenthongdaeng, the local village headman, told Pattaya News that “erecting a (giant penis statue), representing fertility and new growth, was a local tradition going back decades, to the time of his grandparents.”
3. Penis Satan ‘res-erected’ as an NFT (Canada)
Penis Satan, a 2.1 metres fibreglass figure by anonymous street artist, Obsidian, was put up at a plaza in Vancouver in 2014.
Although city staff removed the raunchy statue a couple of days after, the eye-catching phallic devil had attracted plenty of international attention in its short lifespan.
Last year, the statue came back to life. The Penis Satan NFT collection, a digital gITF file, went on sale starting Sept. 9, 2021, and will be available till Aug. 25, 2022.
Bonus: Christiano Ronaldo’s statue
There have been multiple structures of the famous footballer built in his honour.
However, the one that catches our attention is the one standing proudly in Funchal, Portugal, the town where he was born.
Apparently, the groin area of the statue has changed in colour due to the number of tourists touching that particular part!
This is because locals claim that touching the crotch area is supposed to bring one good luck.
Interesting how the image of the phallus is exhibited so openly across different countries!
