A security guard from the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh, R. Yogeswary, has received a great honour from Kebawah DYMM SPB Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah after going viral for her acting above and beyond her work duties.
Earlier this month, Yogeswary received an official letter by Istana Negara, acknowledging her kind and loving actions towards hospital patients and visitors alike, alongside the honour that she would be receiving the Pingat Pangkuan Negara, an order awarded to Malaysians by the Agong for their actions or deeds which have benefited the community or country.
In an article published by BERNAMA, the security guard officially received the honour yesterday, 19 December, during the investiture ceremony at Istana Negara. According to the piece, Yogeswary was among 298 recipients at the ceremony, which was held in conjunction with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s birthday.
Donning a black kebaya, Yogeswary also had the opportunity to take a photo with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah. When receiving the honour, it was reported that the Agong had conveyed to Yogeswary that she deserved the medal, subsequently putting a smile on her face.
Sharing a post to her Facebook account of the moment, Yogeswary stated that she was in tears during the ceremony, and never thought in her life that she would receive this monumental accomplishment.
“Aunty will always do the best for you all. Thank you everyone for your kind words,” she wrote in the Facebook post.
Speaking on the matter, Yogeswary’s employer, United Security Services Sdn Bhd, also shared the moment on their Facebook page, praising Yogeswary for being a shining example to all those she comes across, subsequently congratulating her on receiving the medal.
“Miss Yogeswary has set a great example of a security officer who carries out their duty full of dedication at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) Ipoh,” they wrote in the post.
Currently, Yogeswary is stationed at the Day Care Complex and helps visitors and patients alike in lifting heavy things, calming those who are anxious, and controlling traffic in the parking lot.
