Prior to Indomie penetrating the Malaysian market, it has always been Maggi vs Cintan when it comes to instant noodles.
Unfortunately for Cintan, Maggi started triumphing and soon enough, everyone knew that instant noodles are synonymous to Maggi mee. However, Indomie came along soon after and have since stolen Maggi’s thunder. Competition yo!
Maggi mee is typically cooked in soup or stir-fried styles but for Indomie, the noodles are usually boiled but the water would be removed. Then, the dry noodles are simply mixed with the sauce.
Some people prefer the simple Indonesian-brand noodles over others. Well, there are actually many fanatics of Indomie out there but the biggest fan of all would probably be the designer of this quirky clutch.
According to Lobak Merah, this instant-noodle package bag went viral recently after Indonesian singer Nindy Ayunda walked the runway clutching it during Jakarta Fashion Week on October 6, 2017.
The ingenious designer is none other than Mariko Tampi, who is known for creating nature-themed designs. Her handiwork is usually very detailed, fine, and clean, which is why many people love her creations.
Mariko’s usual designs normally revolve around floral and animal motifs; however, she has also done some interesting food-themed designs.
Besides the viral Indomie clutch bag, she’s created lots of food-themed arm candies too such as bags inspired by sushi, kuih and burgers.
The funniest part is how she’s also able to create ultra quirky bags as she’s often inspired by unconventional items. For example, the Nutella clutch, Panadol bag, potato chip packet and even a traditional herbal medicine design.
To make matters more interesting, netizens have come up with their own versions of the Indomie clutch by actually using a real Indomie packet and adding some random strings or strap-like items to sling it around them.
