Collecting figurines are considered a hobby and many people would have such an interest. Just recently, a Taiwanese wife shared her struggles with her husband in a group.
In her post, she mentioned that,
“My husband has been collecting figurines a lot lately and it’s starting to make me worry. Prior to this, he would purchase up to 12 Dragon Ball figurines in 2 months’ time, but nowadays he would buy so much that his monthly allowance of NT$10,000 (RM1,432) isn’t enough for him anymore.”
She shared that her husband would then borrow money from her and if she tried to stop him from purchasing that many Dragon Ball figurines, he would get agitated.
“He would always say that he is stressed at work and doesn’t understand if there’s anything wrong in buying figurines to help him destress. He borrows money from me frequently, but he never returns the money”, she added.
He would also compare his figurines to her skincare products and say that her skincare items cost much more than his figurines.
“I only stock up on my skincare products once every few months and I would often wait until there’s a sale to purchase the items”, she said.
She then ended the post by saying that while she understands that it’s her husband’s hobby to collect figurines, she feels like her husband is going overboard with his spending and they no longer have money to pay for their house down payment.
There should always be a limit when it comes to doing or purchasing things that spark joy. Do you think the husband is going overboard with his spending on Dragon Ball figurines?
