For many people, having a promising career would be one of their goals as it provides them with financial stability and freedom without needing to depend on anyone. That being said, being able to manage your own financial state would also allow you to start a family.

Just recently, someone from Hong Kong shared a story about his female colleague who pays everything for her boyfriend. In his post he said,

“There’s a colleague of mine who pays for everything because her boyfriend doesn’t work. Her partner is 38 years old and hasn’t worked since he graduated from high school. That’s 21 years of being jobless!”

She would apparently also play along in ensuring his parents don’t know that he is jobless. “He told his parents that they’re ‘saving up’ for a house and that’s why they will not be having a wedding reception or ceremony”, he said.

As for their daily expenses, she would have to cover for him, and they would always come up with excuses when their families ask about their financial situation.

Following his post, many people left their two cents in the comment section and here’s what some of them said:

“Maybe he does all the chores at home. If he does all the chores at home, they just swapped societal gender roles only.”

“If the man is willing to cook and clean at home, it doesn’t matter. Maybe they just switched roles.”

A relationship requires effort from both parties but if this is the way they’re comfortable with, opinions from outsiders shouldn’t matter.
