“I’m finally a M’sian with a future” – 18yo Battling Lupus Pens Heartfelt Letter to MP For Helping Her Obtain Citizenship

A touching story recently came to light after Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng shared a heartfelt letter he received from a Malaysian citizen who has been battling lupus.

In the handwritten letter, the writer (Identified as Chok), whom Lim had previously assisted, expressed her gratitude, saying that Lim had “helped with my statelessness a few years ago.”

On his Facebook page, Lim shared a photo of the letter, in which Chok expressed her joy upon receiving good news in December last year.

She revealed that at 18 years old, she finally felt like she had a future as a Malaysian.

“I want to share my joy with you, Lim, as I have finally gotten it. Now at 18, I truly feel like a Malaysian with a future in Malaysia,” the letter read.

Chok also expressed gratitude to Lim for his help and support during her battle with lupus, taking the opportunity to wish him a Happy Chinese New Year.

“My father and I are very grateful to you for your kindness, help, and support. From the bottom of our hearts, a million thanks to you. Gong Xi Fa Cai.”
