With millions of people having to rely on taking public transportation to get to their desired destinations, the chances of you becoming a victim of some less than sound characters is surely high.
Recently, a woman was left shocked and shaken after she had randomly gotten slapped by a woman believed to have mental issues at the Hang Tuah LRT station on Thursday (Februrary 23).
The victim, known as Loy, shared her experience on Twitter, where she detailed the account about how she was assaulted by the woman for no apparent reason.
What had happened
According to Loy, she was slapped by the insane aunty at Hang Tuah LRT Station.
“I never once expected being slapped by a total stranger.”
Loy said that she was queuing to get off the LRT at the Hang Tuah station when she was suddenly slapped across the face by the woman. After she had gotten slapped, Loy and her friend immediately shouted for help from auxiliary police officers nearby.
After sensing that trouble was near, the woman tried to escape by taking the next train but was prevented from doing so.
Meanwhile, when Loy’s friend confronted the woman over the assault, he himself was slapped across the face which sent his spectacles sprawling to the ground and it was broken on one side.
Police intervention
Fortunately, the auxiliary police officers quickly stepped in and managed to apprehend the woman on the spot.
Following the incident, Loy said that the officers sent her and her friend to the Dang Wangi police station to lodge a report and fetched them back to the LRT station.
“My friend and I would like to express our highest appreciation to the members of the PDRM, especially the auxiliary police for their dedicated service, commitment and sacrifice in solving this problem.”
Serial slapper
Loy’s tweet has since garnered more than 7,194 retweets and 13,300 likes so far, as netizens expressed shock over the incident.
Some users even pointed out that the same woman was also slapping random people at KTM stations years before.
In the thread, Loy said that she cried for hours and is still traumatised by the assault and that she’d feel paranoid whenever she saw someone with a similar appearance as the woman.
However in an update the next day, Loy wrote, “When I visited the Hang Tuah station today, there were numerous police officers present to ensure that everyone was okay. They did excellently! We are so happy that they actually take action. We also expressed our gratitude to the officer who had assisted us yesterday.”
Police have yet to disclose additional information or details regarding the suspect at the time of writing.
We hope that everyone stays safe while taking public transport and that such occurrences do not happen again.
