“I lost my soul to educate students.”
That is the pain a Malaysian teacher has carried deep in his heart ever since he was transferred to another school for simply doing his job with integrity.

In a Facebook post, the teacher, who also served as the school warden, shared that he was reassigned to another location after he confiscated students’ smartphones and vapes while performing his duties.

Now, in a new workplace and environment, the teacher admitted he had lost his passion for educating the students
“I’m only here to teach, and at the end of every month, I’ll receive my salary to feed my family,” the teacher shared.
Activist and former teacher Mohd Fadli Salleh later reshared the post, expressing how difficult it is to fulfil a teacher’s responsibilities, which extend far beyond classroom teaching.
Fadli claimed that the parents of the students involved filed an official complaint to the Public Complaints Management System (SisPAA) under the Ministry of Education (MOE). One thing led to another, and the teacher was then relocated.
In his post, Fadli highlighted the struggles teachers face, noting that many earn modest salaries yet are still required to take on warden duties and heavy workloads. The challenge lies when they are sincerely carrying out their responsibilities to educate, but are reported for doing their jobs.

Fadli urged the relevant departments to change their outdated culture
“At the end, the teachers lost their souls and passion. Might as well play it safe. Stop caring what the students are doing, and collect your salary at the end of every month,” Fadli said.
Fadli also expressed that it is high time for the relevant departments to change the outdated culture of taking credit but disappearing when junior teachers face problems.
“Help them, offer open support, and show all parents that the department consistently stands behind teachers who educate with sincerity and integrity.”
If you’re a teacher, what hardships do you face when dealing with the students or their parents?
