Malaysian politician and Member of Parliament for Bukit Mertajam, Penang, Steven Sim, was recently selected to become the Minister of Human Resources for the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
However, in a recent TikTok clip uploaded to the politician’s official page @stevensimck, the Human Resources Minister made a trip to a children’s home in Bukit Mertajam while he was back in Penang.
Commemorating a very special woman, Sim paid a visit to a children’s home called Sinar Ceria Home in Alma, Bukit Mertajam. There, he shared a brief yet heart-warming moment with the founder of the home named Madam Pakiam. Bedridden and unable to sit up, Sim spoke with Madam Pakiam, whom he has known since before he was elected as a Member of Parliament.
“Because of her good heart, she opened a children’s home that has remained in operation since 2004. As she has aged, her granddaughter Anita has taken over in helping run the home,” wrote Sim in a caption across his TikTok video.
Speaking on her remarkable accomplishments, Sim revealed that Madam Pakiam had received an honorary medal by the Governor of Penang some years ago. A kind heart with an impeccable soul, Sim added that Madam Pakiam always prays for him whenever he pays her a visit.
“God is the father to the fatherless. But for all the children, God sent you to play His role as father and mother to all of them. You are God’s special servant. Thank you for your service,” said Sim in a touching tribute while speaking to Madam Pakiam.
Receiving immense praise for paying Madam Pakiam a visit, many Malaysians commended Sim for not forgetting his roots in his hometown and for making a trip to the children’s home.
However, a plethora of comments also extended deep gratitude towards Madam Pakiam, with some calling the founder a blessing from God.
