Did Dr Noor Hisham just hint at the possibility of another MCO?
Health Director-General took to Twitter yesterday to respond to netizens who questioned the quarantine policy of those returning from overseas and red zone areas. However, what was alarming about his reply was how it seemed to suggest the possibility of the MCO’s return.
When it was announced that returnees from Sabah who tested negative and showed no symptoms need not be quarantined, a netizen questioned this as returnees from overseas could return with different viruses.
Dr Noor Hisham replied saying, “All returnees from Kedah should be quarantined although the red zone is only in Kota Star and despite testing negative? Sounds like back to square one of MCO.”
Another netizen replied to the thread suggesting that interstate travel be stopped again. To which, the Health Director-General responded with, “how about [we] all stay at home for a while again?”
How about all stay at Home for awhile again?

At the time of writing, Dr Noor Hisham’s tweet has garnered over 27,000 retweets and nearly 16,000 likes on Twitter. Many netizens were left speculating as to whether the possibility of another MCO being re-implemented could be true.
While some say that the re-implementation of the MCO should be done to stop the pandemic from rapidly spreading, many have raised concerns about the economic repercussions this could mean for our country. After all, Malaysia’s unemployment reached an all-time high in May 2020 when we were in the middle of the MCO.
