World renounced toy car manufacturer Hot Wheels, under Mattel Inc, has announced a collaboration with our national car brand; Proton, to produce a 1:64 scale model of the country’s first national car, the Proton Saga.
According to a report by Astro Awani, Mattel Inc President and Chief Commercial Officer Steve Totzke shared that the collaboration is in conjunction with their company’s 40th anniversary in Malaysia.
“This is an exciting licensing partnership as we join forces to develop a Hot Wheels car, based on the original Proton Saga model which was the first model produced by Proton, which will now be part of the Hot Wheels personal collection,”
“This partnership aims to preserve the proud heritage of Mattel and Proton to continue to provide high quality vehicles to fans of all ages around the world,” he said.
Additionally, Totzke explained that the Proton Saga is the first car from a Malaysian automotive brand and therefore plays an important role in the growth of the Malaysian economy, which allows Malaysians to own a car.
This new Hot Wheels model is expected to go on sale worldwide by the end of 2023.
