Here’s the Full List of Road Closures & Diversions in KL for Thaipusam Chariot Procession Starting 30 Jan

Ahead of the Thaipusam celebrations this Sunday (1 February), multiple road intersections in Kuala Lumpur will be closed and traffic diverted in stages to make way for the chariot procession.

According to the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Chief, ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, the closures and diversions will begin tomorrow (30 January).

12 KL road intersections to be closed for Thaipusam celebrations

In a statement, Mohd Zamzuri said road closures and diversions will commence at 9 PM from the Sri Maha Mariamman Dhevasthanam Temple on Jalan Tun H.S. Lee and heading towards the Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple in Batu Caves, Selangor.

The affected intersections include:

  • Jalan Leboh Ampang/Jalan Perak
  • Jalan Tun Perak/Jalan Pudu
  • Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock/Jalan Sultan
  • Jalan Sultan/Jalan Hang Jebat
  • Jalan Sultan/Jalan Petaling
  • Jalan Sultan/Jalan Panggung

Mohd Zamzuri added that the return procession will start at 3 PM on Monday (2 February) and is expected to reach its destination around 4 AM on Tuesday (3 February).

Accordingly,  closures and diversions will affect the following intersections during the return journey:

  • Jalan Sultan/Jalan Tun H.S. Lee
  • Jalan Hang Kasturi/Jalan Sultan Mohamed
  • Jalan Munshi Abdullah/Jalan Dang Wangi
  • Jalan Dang Wangi/Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman
  • Jalan Raja Laut/Jalan Dang Wangi
  • Jalan Raja Laut/Jalan Sultan Ismail

“We advise the public to plan their trips ahead, take suitable alternative routes, and fully cooperate with traffic police on duty,” he said.
