Heavy Downpour During Morning Rush Hour Causes Massive Jam in Damansara, Cars Trapped in Floodwaters

With the monsoon season here, heavy rains are expected at any time. This morning (November 12), many road users were stuck in traffic while commuting to work, and those who were around the Damansara area were probably stuck longer than others.

In a viral video, the dashcam footage shows the flash flood in Kota Damansara around the Persiaran Surian area. The heavy downpour had not only caused severe traffic congestion, but 5 cars were also trapped in the flood.

Assistant Director of the Selangor Fire & Rescue Department, Ahmad Mukhriz Mukhtar said in a statement that his department received a report about the matter at around 8:09 AM. 2 fire trucks with 8 firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene to help ease congestion, and assist victims who were trapped in the flood.

As of 10 AM, Mukhriz said the flood water in the area has started to recede. Fortunately, no deaths or injuries were reported.

In the latest update via its Facebook page, heavy rains and strong winds are expected to continue today until 1 PM in certain areas in Selangor and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.
