Recently, it was reported that a member of the Menglembu Volunteer Fire Brigade drowned after falling into a lake at the Lahat Mines in Ipoh, Perak.
However, while his family and loved ones mourn his passing, it appears that irresponsible parties are using his name and the name of his brigade to scam the general public.

Irresponsible parties taking advantage of the tragedy
Taking to their Facebook page, the Menglembu Volunteer Fire Brigade shared a public notice regarding unauthorised fundraising activities.
They wrote: “Our team member, Master Ka-Jun Cheng Siew, has sadly passed away due to an accident. This loss deeply saddens all members of the brigade, and we extend our deepest condolences to his family.”
“To avoid any misunderstanding and to protect the public from potential scams, we would like to make the following official clarifications: We have NOT conducted any public fundraising activities. We have NOT requested or authorised any individuals or organisations to collect donations on our behalf.”
A call for vigilance
The brigade went on to advise the public to remain cautious and to refrain from making donations to unauthorised parties to avoid being misled or scammed.
“This notice is issued solely to clarify the matter and prevent any misunderstanding among the public. We sincerely appreciate the concern and support from the community,” they added.
