With GE15 in less than 5 days, the political play is in full swing and many groups have declared their support openly to specific political coalitions.

One of those groups is Profesor Melayu G70 (G70 Malay Professors) who have pledged their support for Anwar Ibrahim as the next Prime Minister and his coalition, Pakatan Harapan.

In their press conference, the 70 professors from multiple disciplines and institutions said that they believe that GE15 is the best space for Malaysians to elect a head of the government who is “respected nationally and internationally”.

“The nation is now going through complex issues that we never faced before which could tear the country apart.”

In their declaration, they urged Malaysians to exercise their rights as citizens by voting for those who have “integrity and are free from corruption”.

They added: “Malaysians should reject candidates who are from coalitions that betrayed democratic trust and have misused their political status to fulfil the group’s and their own interest.”

So, the group believes that Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim is the best Prime Minister candidate and with the help of his coalition, Pakatan Harapan, they will be able to bring the nation out of the economic lurch that we are in and give a better life to the rakyat.

In response to this declaration, Majlis Profesor Negara has issued a statement saying that they have no relations with G70 Malay Professors.

“We are not directly or indirectly involved with the 70 people who call themselves Profesor Melayu G70 where a majority of them are already retired and are not allowed to use the title “professor” anymore unless they were elected Professor Emeritus.”

They have also elaborated that all individuals have the freedom of speech.

With GE15 coming soon, we hope that all Malaysians will go out and vote this Saturday.
