When we host an open house party, we’re bound to get different types of guests – and some of them unfortunately, are not the most courteous.
For celebrity Chef Wan, having a rumah terbuka during Syawal is a normal annual event. However, there will always be ‘accidents’ happening right in his home.
Chef Wan decided to express his frustrations and honesty via a lengthy Instagram post. He wrote,
“Every Hari Raya I will surely find a case of rendang or peanut sauce leaving a stain on my dining chair. My brother told me some guests’ child spilled some on the chair.”
“Over the years, all sorts of guests have visited us and at times their children will play around with the kueh and scatter them all around the floor. The parents don’t even care.”
This chef isn’t one to keep quiet though. He would outright give them a piece of his mind albeit in a nice way.
“Of course I would chastise some guests who take cakes and cookies but leave them on the plate without eating them. I will tell them if you don’t want to eat it then don’t waste food like that.
“This goes with both adults and even children. Many more people still want to eat.”
Chef Wan’s very own mother has told him off about saying such things to his guests as they may feel hurt by his rather harsh words. This celeb does have a pretty sharp tongue after all…
However, the man stood his ground as he does not believe in acting as though nothing happened but later talking ill about them behind their back.
“I also dislike it when people come to my house and simply touch my things here and there. At times, some even ask how much does the house cost or how much does the antique cupboard cost?
“Surely I will ask back if they would like to help me repay my loans for being so nosy.”
Apparently, unruly kids are what the chef dislikes the most. He said,
“There are those children who run here and there as though they were possessed by ghosts. I shouted at them once a few years ago and they never came back ever again.”
“How could parents be like a stump when looking at their own kids.
“If they were my own grandchildren, I would have smacked them like how my late father smacked us all when we were little. My mother would pinch my siblings until they were swollen.
“I find it weird when parents don’t teach their kids since young.”
Indeed, it is so surprising to see rowdy children running around in public places while their parents simply ignore their kids’ bad habits these days.
Don’t parents bother to discipline their own offspring anymore? What would you do if your own child behaved that way?
