On 23 December, a freak accident occurred on the Grand Saga Highway at 10:45pm at night in a hit and run accident, resulting in one death and five injured victims.
The incident happened when the family was hit by a large Honda while they were driving back home. Vivian Wan, a family member who was not present during the accident, explained what happened to WORLD OF BUZZ, today.
Four of Vivian’s younger siblings were in the car’s backseat when the accident took place, including a 14-year-old, an 11-year-old, a 9-year-old and a one-month-old baby. While her dad, 9-year-old and 14-year-old siblings only sustained minimal injuries, the 11-year-old and one-month-old baby were in more serious conditions.
“My baby sister had to undergo two surgeries. On the day of the car crash, she was examined by the doctor and her CT scan showed internal bleeding,” she told us.
“But yesterday her blood levels dropped twice, so the doctor suggested for her to undergo a second round of surgery.”
Her mother, Khoo Suat Teng, 36, was pronounced dead on the scene, as reported by Harian Metro.
Head of the Selangor Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), Superintendent Azman Shariat further explained that the accident had caused Vivian’s father and baby sister to be thrown out of the passenger seat.
“[My dad] thought the [car] had hit the rear of his car, but after further investigation, it turns out that the driver had actually hit the car’s front wheel,” Vivian explained.
“The wheel broke, and the car starting spiraling out of control. Turning a total of six times before the car stopped spinning and came to a halt.”
The car has been detained at the Kajang District Police Headquarters (IPD) Traffic Station for further inspection. This case is currently being investigated in accordance with Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
The car has since been sent to PUSPAKOM Banting this morning on 28 December for further inspection and to search for more clues and evidence.
Speaking with WORLD OF BUZZ, Head of Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division Kajang DSP Mohd Faizal Bin Razali explained that they hope to find remaining pieces of the perpetrator’s car on the place of impact.
“The highway there doesn’t have CCTV and the nearby Honda showroom didn’t catch anything either,” he told us.
Both Vivian and the police urge anyone and everyone who may have witnessed the accident or passed by the area to reach out with car cam footage or additional information.
“I hope that anyone who had either witnessed the car crash or passed by the area during that time can contact me or the relevant authorities to help with the investigation,” Vivian said.
You can contact Vivian at 010-255-3224 or Inspector Somasureshan A/L Munusamy at 016-491-5193.
