When PMX announced the good news about the 3 sen lesser in egg prices, many Malaysians were not impressed and believed the price drop was not helpful.

Well, looks like the former PM and Chairman of Perikatanan Nasional (PN) is not impressed as well. In his Facebook post last night (June 17), Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin sarcastically “thanked” PMX for the 3 sen price drop.

“I expected more and I was wrong”

In his post, Muhyiddin pointed out the price drop that came after the increased price of diesel last week. He also highlighted the grounds that the government would return the money saved after implementing targeted subsidy measures to the people.

However, eggs are not the only items that are expensive, as said by Muhyiddin.

“Many items and services are also expensive, including bus fares.”

He continued and expressed his thoughts about the matter.

β€œSo, I thought PM would announce an all-inclusive mechanism to lower prices, perhaps RM4 billion package aid for the people to match the savings from the targeted subsidy measures.”

The outcome, however, was far from Muhyiddin’s expectations.

“But what did we get in the end? The government only came up with an announcement that they spent RM100 million on the price reduction of the eggs. It was far from my expectations.”

Earlier, PMX announced that the retail price of domestic A, B, and C-grade eggs will be reduced by 3 sen each. The announcement came after the implementation of this subsidy measure, the retail prices of grade A, B, and C eggs will be adjusted to 42 sen, 40 sen, and 38 sen respectively.

What do you think of the price reduction? Do you agree with Muhyiddin’s take on this matter?
