Form 2 Student to Be Sent to Henry Gurney After Burning Sleeping Dorm Mates with Hot Iron ‘For Fun’

A 14-year-old student has been ordered to be sent to Henry Gurney School until he turns 17 following a disturbing incident at a school dormitory in Matang.

The Magistrate’s Court handed down the decision after the Form Two student pressed a hot iron on eight of his dorm mates while they were asleep.

The order was issued after the 14-year-old student from Matang pleaded guilty to eight charges before three Magistrates, Ling Hui Chuan, Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan and Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali.

According to Harian Metro, the teen admitted to pressing a hot iron on eight of his dormmates, aged between 13 and 15, claiming he did it “just for fun.”

The offences took place at a school dormitory in Matang between 12:30am and 2:00am on May 2.

He was also ordered to undergo one year of supervision under the Social Welfare Department, with his parents allowed to visit him once every two months.

All the victims sustained injuries on their bodies

As a result of the incident, all eight victims sustained injuries, including burns on their arms, calves, ankles, and necks.

According to case details, the teenager deliberately pressed a hot iron against his sleeping dorm mates, causing them harm. The act was witnessed by other students in the dorm and was done purely for amusement, with the intent to bully.

He was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a hot iron.
