There are a ton of workers in Malaysia who are fighting for jobs now that the Covid-19 Movement Control Order is in place and companies are letting workers go.

It may be somewhat of a common occurrence but that doesn’t mean that Malaysians should take the opportunity to make a joke out of the struggles of these workers.

For example, the MyWatch Twitter page took to their account to showcase a couple of grass cutters fighting, allegedly over their grass cutting territories, but instead of sympathising for the foreign workers, many netizens decided to poke fun at them instead.

MyWatch wrote, “Foreign workers fighting over grass cutting areas. Something that rarely happens.”

A few netizens pointed what that the workers are probably hungry and low on money, hence are fighting for their livelihoods.

This comment goes, “Both are hungry. They’re not fighting for the territory, they’re probably fighting for the chance to work for money, as both are from the same agency based on their shirt. Maybe with that money, they could feed their families.”

Others were unhappy that the person recording didn’t bother breaking up the fight.

This comment says, “Better to break up the fight then to record, no common sense at all.”

But the majority of netizens decided to comment on the actual fight itself.

This comment reads, “They’re fighting for a pack of iced tea because it’s hard to buy drinks when the mamak is closed.”

This comment goes, “No need to be men if you fight by pulling hair. There’s the grass cutting machines right there, turn it on and take it to his head.”

This comment says, “Why didn’t they just turn on and use the grass cutting machines as swords to fight. Then things will get good.”

This comment goes, “Pulling hair like girls.”

Walao.

I truly feel bad that these foreign workers have to fight for their livelihoods and the fact that Malaysians probably only care about the fact that they’re pulling each other’s hair.

Now more than ever, we should be more sympathetic and understanding of each others’ problems, especially those who require financial support, no matter race, religion or citizenship.

We genuinely hope that these workers get the help that they need so that they both can feed their families.

What do you think about this? Let us know in the comment section.
