Chinese actress Fan Bingbing was recently appointed as Malacca’s International Tourism Ambassador for 2024, and work is being done to welcome the actress who will be landing in Malaysia soon.
The Malacca State Government has prepared a portrait mural of “Empress Wu” as a welcome gift, looking forward to her visit. The painting was recently completed, and Empress Wu is 1 of the most popular characters that Fan has played in her acting career.
Fan Bingbing’s mural is 10 feet high and 10 feet wide. The portrait is based on a still from one of the artist’s TV series “The Empress of China” and uses water-based paint as the raw material to protect the buildings in the World Heritage Area.
Many fans have been keeping tabs on the progress of the mural via Fan Bingbing’s fan page on the social media platform Xiao Hong Shu (RED), saying that they are looking forward to Fan Bingbing’s appearance in Malacca on June 14.
Since the completion of the mural, many tourists have been flooding the scene to take pictures of the painting.
Are you sure that’s Fan Bingbing?
Social media users, on the other hand, have A LOT to say about the mural painting, and many were not happy with the outcome.
“It’s a little ugly, I couldn’t tell it was Fan Binbing.”
“If this is the outcome, I don’t think Fan Binbing will be happy.”
“I passed by the area not too long ago. I really didn’t think it was Fan Binbing.”
“Is this the outcome, or there’s still some touch up to go?”
“Might as well put on the poster, which would look better.”
“This painting doesn’t work.”
“It’s a little ugly.”
“The painting doesn’t really look like the Chinese actress. I get a childish vibe from this painting.”
To the art enthusiast out there, what do you think of this painting?
