For many, celebrating the New Year’s at a countdown event or party has become a habit.
As for this year, KLCC announced earlier that they would not hold their annual fireworks and New Year’s Eve party due to global issues.
Similarly, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said that the Federal Government has no plans to hold any New Year’s Eve celebration, reports BERNAMA.
The minister said that the decision behind not organising any New Year’s Eve celebration on a federal level is to show solidarity with the Palestinian people and also show respect for the victims of the ongoing flood in several states (Sabah, Kelantan, Pahang, Selangor, Johor and Terengganu).
“However, at the state government and local authority levels, there may be celebration programmes suited to their local environments.”
Other than that, the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) has also stated that they will be holding spiritual programmes on New Year’s Eve at the National Mosque in Kuala Lumpur, Putra Mosque and Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque.
Program Kerohanian Ambang Tahun Baru 2024 pada 31 Disember 2023 diadakan di tiga buah masjid utama JAKIM iaitu Masjid Negara, Masjid Putra dan Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin.
Orang ramai dijemput hadir.
