Everyone at This Kuching Mall Stands to Respect “Ibu Pertiwiku” as the Sarawak Anthem Started Playing

A wholesome showing of national and state pride caught the attention of Malaysians recently after a video depicted how all patrons at a mall in Kuching, Sarawak stood up in respect of the official Sarawak state anthem, Ibu Pertiwiku and the national anthem Negaraku. 

Shared by @dearfuturelala on TikTok, she posted 2 videos of the surroundings inside Merdeka Plaza in Kuching as Ibu Pertiwiku and Negaraku started playing.

In the 1st video, @dearfuturelala, who was dining at an eatery on 1 of the highest floors in the mall, panned the camera around the building from the high vantage point.

Accordingly, everyone in the mall can be seen standing up and standing still as Ibu Pertiwiku is playing in the background.

Only a few individuals can be seen not standing still and walking in the mall throughout.

These include fellow patrons at the eatery who stopped eating and stood up to respect the Sarawak state anthem.

In the overlaid text of the video, @dearfuturelala wrote,

In a follow-up video, @dearfuturelala shared how the same respect was shown for Negaraku too as the national anthem started playing in the sound system of the mall.

Many Sarawakians flooded the comments section to share how proud they are of their fellow Sarawakians 

One commenter said that patriotism and love for one’s country and state are automatically instilled inside Sarawakians since school, as shown in the videos.

Meanwhile, a Sarawakian currently working outside the state shared how touched he was at hearing Ibu Pertiwiku.

Besides that, another Sarawakian said that it’s the responsibility of those originating from the state to stand up and respect the Sarawak State anthem.
