The love one receives from animals is quite simply, unmatched. But while many often denote this theory in relation to more domesticated creatures, one sanctuary in Thailand is proving that this isn’t, necessarily, always the case.

A recent TikTok video has been making waves online after non-profit organisation called Save Elephant Foundation shared a touching moment of a reunion between the founder of their establishment and a few elephants living in their sanctuary to their page @saveelephantfoundation.

In the video, the founder, who was revealed to have returned from a trip lasting several days, came to check on the elephants in the sanctuary, only to have them run towards her with pure glee and delight.

Upon seeing her in the distance, a group of 4 elephants run towards her while trumpeting loudly from their trunks. Wagging their tails, each elephant tries their best to get personal time with their founder for a few seconds, with one of the elephants playfully standing on top of her as she rubs its belly.

Surrounding her for a brief moment, the founder makes sure to give each creature a moment of her time before the video officially concludes.

In a caption of the video, Saengduean Lek Chailert, who is the founder of the sanctuary located in the Mae Taeng district of Thailand, revealed how she always receives a joyous welcome home from the elephants after travelling to different areas for her work.

“No matter which corner of the Earth I find myself at, my absence is truly felt by them, for these magnificent creatures are more than companions – they are my family, exuding positive energy that fuels my passion,” read the caption of the post.

Closing her thoughts out, Saengduean stated that these elephants inspire her to tirelessly advocate for their well-being and ensure that they live happy yet secure lives, adding how just like humans, elephants also experience the love and pangs of separation.

Garnering an overwhelmingly positive response online, many users shared how beautiful the video was, and that the elephants truly loved Saengduean with all their hearts. While some asked how one gets jobs similar to what Saengduean has, others wrote that she clearly has a good heart to generate such a reaction from these animals, after leaving for just a few days.

“I think, if elephants greet you like this – you get a good human award. The herd has spoken!” touchingly penned another user.

A lovely post share from our founder Saengduean Lek Chailert. Every time I embark on work journer to different areas away from the Park, distancing myself from the elephants for several days, their joyous welcome upon my return is truly heartwarming. No matter which corner of the world I find myself in, their absence is keenly felt by me, for these magnificent creatures are more than companions – they are my family, exuding positive energy that fuels my passion. They inspire me to tirelessly advocate for their well-being, ensuring they lead happy and secure lives.Much like humans, elephants experience love and the pangs of separation. Let’s join forces to shield them from abuse, becoming their voice for protection and advocating for a life of dignity.
