This year’s state elections seem to have been full of drama and surprising instances. From those being turned away from voting simply due to an outfit choice to the fights started due to queue cutters.

In a funny yet unfortunate incident, it was reported yesterday (August 12) that an elderly woman in Penang had accidentally dropped her IC into the ballot box along with her ballot.

According to China Press, the incident occurred at SJK(C) Chung Hwa 1, Butterworth, where the woman, who was in her 80s, accidentally placed her IC into the ballot box together with the ballot.

As a result, she had to wait until the counting of the votes was complete before she could retrieve her IC, as the ballot box can only be unsealed at the end of the day, when she can return to the school to get her IC back.
