In the past, some leaders in Malaysia were spotted with fancy accessories or clothes with them. For instance, Zahid Hamid was seen with a fancy watch that allegedly costs RM2 million, and former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri was even labeled as Burberry’s ambassador.
Things are a little different with our 10th PM, Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim. After being spotted using the RM3 Artline 210 pen, eagle-eyed netizens once again spotted something economical and down-to-earth that our PM wore recently.
Just yesterday evening (December 18), in a Twitter post, Anwar shared some images of him with the Pahang royalty. Aside from being praised for working on a weekend, observant netizens are pointing out the socks that wore at the scene – a pair of RM2 socks that you can easily purchase from any eco shop.
Anwar was seen in a dark blue suit, pants, black leather shoes, and a songkok. Out of all these, his (quite) hidden socks gained attention. We guess some Malaysians are indeed interested in our PM’s sense of fashion.
It didn’t take long for some Malaysians to point out the kind of socks that the PM was wearing during his meeting with the Pahang royalty, and they are excited to share their views in the comment section.
“That’s the socks from the eco shop.”
A netizen has since fact-checked the socks and provided a screenshot of the price of the socks, which is only RM2.40.
Surprisingly, Shopee Check has also responded and subtly said the socks look familiar.
In the meantime, other netizens joked about the possibility of a marked-up price for the socks after PM was spotted wearing it.
Other netizens praised Anwar not only for his humbleness but also for having the spirit of the rakyat.
“A leader and a King with morality. This is what we want. Long live the unity government.”
“Our PM is so humble.”
Fellow Malaysians, do you think Anwar will be spotted with more economical accessories or clothes in the near future?
