If you’re a durian lover, you’d know that there are many variants to the king of fruits and some of them could get crazy expensive.
However, we’re pretty sure that none of them could get as expensive as this particular Musang King durian from Raub, Pahang, as it was recently sold for a whopping RM185,000 at an auction!
As shared by the Pahang Exco of Communication and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and Non-Government Bodies Fadzli Mohamad Kamal in a Facebook post, the one whole Musang King durian was auctioned alongside other durians at Raub’s SMK Sg Ruan, with the funds going to upgrading works of the school’s infrastructure.
Bidding for the Raub Musang King durian started at RM2,000 and after several bidders one upping each other, the winning bid was from Mr Huang Qi Wen, who offered RM185,000 for the one durian.
Moreover, Fadzli Mohamad Kamal, who is also the assemblyperson for Dong, shared that the highest bid for a Black Thorn durian was at RM15,000.
Besides that, Dato’ Lye We Ken donated RM204,444 through the auction programme. Overall, a total of RM404,444 was collected during the event.
